Since Football is directional based – and that we have concluded the passing hierarchy before in
our article series about game insight – we need to define in what order we create space in
Attacking – but especially all the players without the ball.
The following hierarchy will be defined as follows, within the Team Structure:
The relationship between having the ball (Team function Attacking) but not having the ball as a
player – still is an important relationship in order to keep the ball – and to eventually score a goal.
You will have a hard time to bypass the opponent if not all the other players is doing creating space
And how can you can conclude this in to principles? Easiest thing to do is to look at I through a
game situation. Give the ballcarrier the options in this optimal situation according to the mentioned
hierarchy. And sometimes the best available options is of a less hierarchical order – but one action
or a new position of the ball can change the situation completely. And this has to be performed
time – and time again.
In order to fullfil the hierarchy of the pass – and the thing of the highest order – to score a goal – you
need to perform this actions time and time again. Otherwise your Attacking will not be as fruitful as
you would want.
